When doing research on buying a car, there are a lot of things to consider. How can safety not be among the leading considerations? That is one of the reason that the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic is a winning pick. Especially it has become an IIHS Top Safety Pick.
The Chevrolet Sonic has always boasted a five star government crash rating but had not earned the highest award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, until now. The changes they made to this model mid-year put them over the top on safety. They altered the cars structure and airbags to provide even better protection in small overlap front crashes. They applied these changes to all sonic models built after February. That was enough to put the Sonic over the top. These small overlap crash tests are notoriously difficult to get high marks in for any automaker. This is the type of accidents that happens if the front corner of your vehicle strikes a tree, utility pole or another vehicle at 40 mph. Most subcompact cars have not performed very well in the small overlap test. Matter of fact, most scored poor. Now that the Chevrolet Sonic has the Top Safety Pick rating in addition to a five star rating from the government, it makes it one of the highest rated subcompacts in terms of safety. As I said when we opened, safety should be at the top of everyone’s list when choosing a car.
